Function requirements

IMPORTANT Depending on equipment installed, one of the following control units is installed:

The function description uses the term "master control unit".

Operating instruction

A call is accepted and rejected via:

Function sequence for call signal with comfort telephony and with code (810) Sound system

The mobile phone receives a call signal in the following way:

Information about the caller is displayed on the mobile phone's screen. The display on the mobile phone's screen is forwarded internally.

At the same time, the call signal is forwarded to the "master control unit" in the following way:

The "master control unit" transmits the call tone via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3). From there, the call tone is transmitted via discrete lines to the following speakers:

At the same time, the "master control unit" mutes the currently active audio source (e.g. in radio mode) (MUTE). This takes place internally in the "master control unit".

The caller ID is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) by the "master control unit" via a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line.

In addition, the caller ID is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1) (except Entry-Line) via the interior CAN.

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the call tone is output directly from the "master control unit" via discrete lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT With basic telephony, the mobile phone receives the call signal via the mobile phone antenna. The call signal is then forwarded to the "master control unit" in the following way:

Accept call function sequence over mobile phone buttons

Pressing the "Accept call" button on the mobile phone serves to accept the call in handsfree mode. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Function sequence for accepting a call via telephone buttons on the "master control unit"

The call is accepted in handsfree mode by pressing the "Accept phone call" button on the "master control unit". The control signals from the buttons on the "master control unit" are processed internally.

Accept call function sequence over Audio/COMAND control panel

The caller ID is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display by the "master control unit" via an LVDS line by the call signal.

Selecting the "Accept call" function using the Audio/COMAND control panel serves to accept the call in handsfree mode. The control signals from the Audio/COMAND control panel are forwarded to the "master control unit" via the telematics CAN.

Accept call function sequence over multifunction steering wheel button groups

The call is accepted in handsfree mode by pressing the accept/ terminate phone call button (S111s3) in the corresponding panel. The control signal from the accept/terminate phone call button is forwarded to the "master control unit" via the following components:

Function sequence for accepting a call via VCS [SBS], with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer, with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer and with code (810) Sound system

Pressing the voice control system ON button (S111s4) of the right multifunction steering wheel button group activates the voice control of the voice control system. The control signal from the VCS [SBS] on button is forwarded to the "master control unit" via the following components:

A signal tone is emitted after the voice control system has been activated.

The signal tone is transmitted from the "master control unit" via MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit.

From there, the signal tone is transmitted via discrete lines to the following speakers:

The call is only accepted with the corresponding voice command. The voice commands are acquired by the voice control system microphone (B25/7) and forwarded via a discrete line directly to the "master control unit".

IMPORTANT The individual voice commands are listed in the "Linguatronic operator's manual".

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "master control unit" via discrete lines to the following speakers:

Function sequence for phone call in handsfree mode with comfort telephony and with code (810) Sound system

After the call has been accepted, the "master control unit" receives or transmits the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

The voice input in handsfree mode (except "private mode") is acquired by the VCS [SBS] microphone and forwarded via a discrete line directly to the "master control unit".

The voice output (except "private mode") takes place from the "master control unit" via MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit. From there, the voice output is transmitted via discrete lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the voice output takes place directly from the "master control unit" via discrete lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT For basic telephony, the "master control unit" receives or transmits the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

IMPORTANT In general, the telephone connection is established in handsfree mode for basic telephony and for comfort telephony after accepting the call.

With comfort telephony, if the mobile phone is taken out of the cradle after establishing the phone connection in handsfree mode and thus disconnected from the "master control unit", the phone call is conducted in "private mode". With comfort telephony, if the mobile phone is inserted into the cradle again during an ongoing phone call, the phone call is conducted again in handsfree mode.

Reject call function sequence over mobile phone buttons

Pressing the "End" button on the mobile phone rejects the call. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Function sequence for rejecting a call via telephone buttons on the "master control unit"

The call is rejected by pressing the "End" button on the "master control unit". The control signals from the telephone buttons on the "master control unit" are processed internally.

Reject call function sequence over Audio/COMAND control panel

The caller ID is displayed on the Audio/COMAND display by the "master control unit" via an LVDS line by the call signal.

By selecting the "Reject" function the call is then rejected. The control signals from the Audio/COMAND control panel are forwarded to the "master control unit" via the telematics CAN.

Reject call function sequence over multifunction steering wheel button groups

Pressing the accept/terminate phone call button in the corresponding subfield rejects the call. The control signal from the accept/terminate phone call button is forwarded to the "master control unit" via the following components:
