Wiper start suppression function - GF82.30-P-3008CW

MODEL 204.0 /2 with CODE (345) Rain sensor up to Model Year 8

Function requirements

Wiper start suppression function sequence

The wiper start suppression is intended to prevent the driver or front passenger from being sprayed with water from the windshield when getting in or out as the result of a wipe operation that is in progress.

The wiper remains in the park position despite a wipe request from the interval or rain sensor mode.

Wipe operation is suppressed if

The instrument cluster (A1) transmits the vehicle speed to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via interior CAN.

The status of the doors is recorded by the left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1) and the right front door rotary tumbler switch (A85/1s1). These are read in discretely by the left front door control unit (N69/1) and the right front door control unit (N69/2), which send the status of the doors via the interior CAN.

The front SAM control unit receives the information and keeps the wiper motor (M6/1) in the park position via wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN.

Opening the driver or front passenger door does not immediately interrupt wiper operation that is currently in progress. The wipers move to the park position.

The wiper motor resumes operation after suppression if:

Detection of selector lever position on transmission 722: The position of the selector lever is read in by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) and transmitted to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) via drive train CAN. The ME-SFI [ME] control unit or the CDI control unit transmits the information to the front SAM control unit via chassis CAN.

Detection of the clutch pedal operation on transmissions 711 and 716:

The operation of the clutch pedal is sensed by the clutch pedal switch (S40/3). The clutch pedal switch is read in by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit or the CDI control unit and transmitted to the front SAM control unit via drive train CAN.
