Removing and installing electronic stability program (ESP) hydraulic unit - AR42.45-P-0817V

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. -

1 Ignition off and disconnect key from the electronic ignition switch control unit    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. -
2 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position   AR88.40-P-1000V
3 Clean traction systems hydraulic unit (A7/3) around the line connections NOTES Before opening the brake system, clean the area around the separation point thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system  
4 Detach brake lines (1) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) IMPORTANT Before detaching, identify brake lines (1) relative to the corresponding line connection, in the process observe markings on the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) (arrow). Trace line routing to the corresponding wheel.
NOTES Collect any brake fluid which runs out in a fluff-free, absorbent cloth. Seal the brake lines (1) and line connections on the traction system Traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) immediately with SPECIAL TOOL stop plugs in order to prevent the ingress of foreign objects.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Do not mix up brake lines (1), observe markings.

5 Unlock electrical connector (2) and detach from ESP and BAS control unit (N47-5)    
6 Pull the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) with bracket (3) out of the rubber support (4) NOTES Flush off brake fluid which runs out in the area of the longitudinal frame member with water in order to avoid paint damage.  
7 Detach bracket (3) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3); to do this, unscrew bolts (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.45-P-1010-01B 
    SPECIAL TOOL Torx bit set Fig 5
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010V 
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near engine Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

10 Check brake system for leaks   -
