Remove/install paneling on C-pillar upper section for Vario roof - AR77.50-P-6763V

MODIFICATION NOTES

25.9.06 Soap solution as antifriction agent added Step 5
REMOVING Removing    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by body parts being trapped  or crushed  when working on partially open Vario roof (stop mode) or in its closing area as a result of the Vario roof suddenly collapsing Secure Vario roof with a suitable special tool. -
1 Move Vario roof to intermediate position and secure IMPORTANT Position of C-pillar top sections (1) approx. 75°. AR77.50-P-3000-01V

2 Knock C-pillar covering (1) up with suitable wedge (4) and plastic mallet and remove from C-pillar top section (5) NOTES Carefully tap C-pillar covering (1) upward.
Danger of breakage.
Ensure that the C-pillar covering (1) slips over the outer C-pillar seal (2) with the upper edge, otherwise the outer C-pillar (2) loosens from the C-pillar upper section (5).
IMPORTANT The C-pillar covering (1) can seat extremely tightly on the C-pillar top section (5) due to contact with sealant.
 
INSTALLING Install     
3.1 Completely remove sealant residues from C-pillar covering (1) Not when replacing C-pillar covering (1).  
4 Install sealing tape (6) on uppermost bead (12) of outer C-pillar stay (7) as shown IMPORTANT Form a ball of sealing tape (6) and press into uppermost bead (12). The uppermost bead (12) should be filled completely and flush. Do not touch sealing tape (6) with bare fingers.  
    12 X 1.5 mm butyl strip *BR00.45-Z-1050-01A 
5 Apply soap solution over entire length of outer C-pillar stay (7), inner C-pillar stay (11) and in area of inner C-pillar seal (9) located on the C-pillar covering (1). NOTES Do not use antifriction agent containing solvents to prevent damaging inner C-pillar seal (9).  
6 Position C-pillar covering (1) with bottom edge approx. 10 cm above lower bead (12) in inner C-pillar stay (11). NOTES Carefully slide C-pillar covering (1) onto C-pillar upper section (5). Danger of breakage.  
7 Arrest covering stay (10) with inner C-pillar stay (11) over entire length in direction of arrow (arrow A). IMPORTANT Ensure that the cover stay (10) is seated in the inner C-pillar seal (9) as shown. Slightly press C-pillar covering (1) in direction of arrow (arrow A) over entire length while sliding onto C-pillar top section (5).  
8 Firmly slide C-pillar covering (1) downward to C-pillar upper section (5) until the bottom edge of the C-pillar covering (1) is flush with the edge (arrow C) of the C-pillar upper section (5). IMPORTANT All retaining tabs (13) of the C-pillar covering (1) should be arrested on the outer C-pillar stay (7).  
9 Check seat of C-pillar covering (1) in inner C-pillar seal (9) IMPORTANT Check by pulling back sealing profile (8) on inner C-pillar seal (9). The lip (arrow B) should be upright in relation to the C-pillar covering (1) over the entire length  
10 Remove support for securing intermediate position of Vario roof and close Vario roof SPECIAL TOOL Figure
