Remove and install expansion valve - AR83.30-P-5520V

MODEL 171.4 with CODE (580) Automatic air conditioning with CODE (581) Convenience automatic air conditioning

REMOVING Remove    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged. -
NOTES Conduct if air conditioning system is damaged or leaking   AH83.30-N-0004-01A 
NOTES Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work   -
IMPORTANT Notes on handling refrigerant R134a   AH83.30-N-0003-01A 
1 Discharge air conditioning system   AR83.30-P-1760V 
2 Unscrew nuts (2)    
3 Detach low-pressure line (3) and seal off opening in low-pressure line (3) using a suitable cap NOTES The opening in the low-pressure line (3) must be sealed, otherwise the ingress of dirt and moisture will damage the components connected to the refrigerant circuit.

4 Unscrew nut (4)    
5 Detach high-pressure line (5) from expansion valve (1)    
6 Seal off openings in high-pressure line (5) and in expansion valve (1) using a suitable cap or a suitable stop plug NOTES The opening in the high-pressure line (5) and the openings in the expansion valve (1) must be sealed, otherwise the ingress of dirt and moisture will damage the components connected to the refrigerant circuit.

7 Remove bolts (6).    
8 Remove expansion valve (1)    
9 Seal connecting pipes (8) using suitable caps NOTES The connecting pipes (8) must be sealed, otherwise the ingress of dirt and moisture will damage the components connected to the refrigerant circuit.

INSTALLING Install     
10 Remove caps, replace sealing rings (7) and moisten with compressor oil

11 Remove stop plug and position expansion valve (1) COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1002-27A 
12 Moisten screws (6) with compressor oil and screw in IMPORTANT If the thread of the screws (6) does not grip, pull tapping plate forward using pulling hook, hold and screw in screws (6).
Screw in screws (6) alternately to prevent the expansion valve (1) from tilting on the connecting pipes (8).
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.30-P-1002-01D

13 Remove cap and replace sealing ring of high-pressure line (5) IMPORTANT Moisten sealing ring of high-pressure line (5) with compressor oil.  
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1002-27A 
14 Position high-pressure line (5)    
15 Tighten nut (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.30-P-1012-01D 
16 Remove cap and replace sealing ring of low-pressure line (3) IMPORTANT Moisten sealing ring of low-pressure line (3) with compressor oil.

17 Position low-pressure line (3)    
18 Tighten nut (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.30-P-1011-01D 
19 Evacuate the air conditioning system, refill it, and then check the system to make sure that it functions correctly and does not leak.   AR83.30-P-1760V
