MODEL 171.4 with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system

TELE AID emergency call

In the event of an emergency call, in addition to active telephone connections, active service calls (MB-Info or roadside assistance call) are also interrupted. The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) sends the emergency call telegram to the nearest emergency call center and at the same time always establishes a telephone connection to the emergency call center. If the emergency call was started automatically and the connection to the emergency call center was not possible, a telephone connection is automatically established to the police emergency phone number "911". In such case, no emergency call data are transmitted. The emergency call must then be made verbally. With a manual emergency call, this procedure may be configured.

IMPORTANT The emergency call system must be authorized for transferring an emergency call telegram.

The telephone connections are usually handled via the rod antenna (A28). The left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) splits up the signals from the rod antenna (A28) into the signals for the central locking (CL), the radio component of the audio unit that is installed and the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI) system. The portable CTEL antenna amplifier (A28/2) controls the signals from the rod antenna (A28). During normal operation the signals from the rod antenna (A28) are relayed to the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1) and vice-versa. During emergency operation the signals from the rod antenna (A28) are relayed to the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) and vice versa. If the rod antenna (A28) is defective because the vehicle has rolled over, for example, the emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) and the emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55) are integrated in the rear bumper of the vehicle.

The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) detects the antenna failure and automatically actuates the emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) and the emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55) via the emergency call system antenna splitter (A2/25).
