Test brake system with pressure tester for leaks - AR42.10-P-0015V

INSPECT Checking    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. -
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. -

1.1 Deactivate easy entry/exit for driver seat On vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors), code 275
NOTES When the easy entry/exit is activated the driver seat or steering wheel move into a different position when the driver door is opened or closed. The driver seat may be damaged in the process when the brake pedal jack (080) is installed SPECIAL TOOL .

2 Hoist vehicle with lifting platform until wheels are free   AR00.60-P-1000V
3 Unscrew bleeder screw at brake caliper and connect to pressure tester COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS (051) NOTES Only use pressure testers for brake systems. Pressure testers for hydraulic oil system must not be used for systems with brake fluid, otherwise the brake fluid is mixed with hydraulic fluid. This results in failure of the brake system
IMPORTANT After the leak test, only bleed the brake caliper to which the COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS pressure tester (051) was connected.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bleed screw on front axle floating caliper *BA42.10-P-1002-10P 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bleed screw on rear axle fixed caliper

4 COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Bleed pressure tester (051).    
HIGH PRESSURE TEST High-pressure check     
5 Allow the engine to run at moderate speed and release the accelerator pedal suddenly IMPORTANT This produces the highest possible vacuum.  
6 SPECIAL TOOL Mount the brake pedal jack (080) with SPECIAL TOOL adapter for brake pedal jack between the driver seat and brake pedal IMPORTANT Protect the brake pedal and driver seat from damage.

7 Depress brake pedal as far as possible with the brake pedal winch SPECIAL TOOL (080)    
8 Check pressure drop IMPORTANT The pressure may drop by a maximum of 5% within 5 minutes.  
HIGH PRESSURE TEST Low-pressure testing     
9 Switch off engine and press the brake pedal several times IMPORTANT In order to reduce the vacuum in the brake booster  
10 Press down the brake pedal using the SPECIAL TOOL brake pedal jack (080) until the pressure gauge of the COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS pressure tester (051) displays a line pressure of approx. 3 bar SPECIAL TOOL Brake pedal winch

11 Check pressure drop IMPORTANT The line pressure must not drop within 2 minutes.  
12 COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Disconnect pressure tester (051)    
13 SPECIAL TOOL Remove brake pedal jack (080) with SPECIAL TOOL adapter for brake pedal jack    
14 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010V 
15 Lower vehicle   AR00.60-P-1000V
16.1 Activate easy entry/exit for driver seat On vehicles with Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors), code 275. AR54.30-P-1000-02EDV
HIGH PRESSURE TEST Checking     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by body parts being pulled in by rotating vehicle wheels and roller dynamometer rollers Do not insert your hand into rotating parts.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Safeguard areas with rotating vehicle parts and dynamometer rollers against unauthorized access.
Safeguard roller dynamometer from unauthorized access.

17 Carry out brake test on the test stand
