	Removal/installation
1	Loosen center console cover (2) and lay down to side with electrical connectors connected	It is not necessary to remove the outside mirror adjustment switch with/without mirror fold-in/out facility and Vario roof/ATA switch group	AR68.20-P-2350V
2.1	Position gearshift lever toward rear	With transmission 716
2.2	Move gearshift lever to position "D"	With transmission 722
3	Open stowage compartment (1) or ashtray housing (6)	See Operating Instructions
4.1	Remove covers (3) from bolts (4)n	On vehicles without code (301a) Ashtray package/smoker package
4.2	Remove cover (3) from left bolt (4) and unclip cover (7) at side with suitable screwdriver (arrow)	On vehicles with code (301a) Ashtray package/smoker package Installation:  Ensure that cover (7) is seated correctly.
5	Unscrew bolts (4)
6.1	Remove stowage compartment (1) from center console (5) toward rear	On vehicles without code (301a) Ashtray package/smoker package
6.2	Remove ashtray housing (6) from center console (5) toward rear and disconnect electrical connector (8)	On vehicles with code (301a) Ashtray package/smoker package
7	Install in the reverse order
