	Remove/Install
	Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.	Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	-

1	Move the wiper arms (3) into the end position.
2	Remove the key from the electronic ignition switch (EZS) control unit
3	Eliminate vacuum in BAS brake booster (A7/7)	Press the brake pedal several times until the vacuum in the BAS brake booster (A7/7) is eliminated.
	Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/ rear-end door or sliding roof.	When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts.	-
4	Open engine hood and move to upright position		AR88.40-P-1000V
	Risk of injury  in the form of trapping or crushing, or even severing of limbs, if caught in windshield wiper mechanism.	Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism.	-
5	Remove wiper arms (3).		AR82.30-P-6100V

6	Remove water collector (5).		AR83.25-P-1402V
7	Remove pendulum support (1a) from tandem brake master cylinder (1).		AR42.10-P-0300-02V
8	Remove tandem brake master cylinder (1).	Do not detach expansion reservoir (1b) for brake fluid from tandem brake master cylinder (1). Installation: Check tandem brake master cylinder (1) for leaks at primary piston. Installation: Install new sealing ring (18).	AR42.10-P-0310V
9	Release and disconnect diaphragm travel sensor connector (A7/7x1) at BAS diaphragm travel sensor (A7/7b1).
10	Release and disconnect the release switch and solenoid valve connector (A7/7x2) at BAS release switch (A7/7s1).
11	Release and disconnect connector (20) from ESP brake pressure sensor 1 (B34/1).
12	Remove vacuum line (8) on BAS brake booster (A7/7)	Model 171.442	-

13.1	Unclip A/C line (4) from retaining clamps (28, 29).	Only on model 171.442 Place A/C line (4) to the side.
14	Remove left cover below instrument panel		AR68.10-P-1500V
15	Remove front cover of pedal assembly		AR29.10-P-0320V
16	Unscrew nuts (6a) from fuse and relay box (F1) in driver footwell.		AR54.15-P-1256-01VA

17	Remove securing clamp (25).	To do this, take out pin (26).
18	Unscrew nuts (23) from BAS brake booster (A7/7).		*BA43.10-P-1002-01A
19	Loosen fuse and relay box (F1) in engine compartment	Pull fuse and relay box (F1) out of bulkhead.	AR54.15-P-1256-01VA
20	Take out BAS brake booster (A7/7)	Installation:  Do not damage boot (9) when installing the BAS brake booster (A7/7) in order to avoid leakage. Pull BAS brake booster (A7/7) out of bulkhead and turn 45° counterclockwise. Pull fuse and relay box (F1) to the left when removing from BAS brake booster (A7/7). Installation:  Install new seal (21).
21	Install in the reverse order

23	Read out fault memory
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A

	Check
	Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.	-
24	Check brake system for leaks		AR42.10-P-0100-01V
	Risk of death  caused by body parts being pulled in by rotating vehicle wheels and roller dynamometer rollers	Do not insert your hand into rotating parts. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Safeguard areas with rotating vehicle parts and dynamometer rollers against unauthorized access. Safeguard roller dynamometer from unauthorized access.	-
25	Carry out brake test on the test stand
