Remove/install hydraulic lines for trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder - AR77.37-P-3551V

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install    
NOTES Notes on Vario roof assembly work AH77.30-P-0002-01R   
1 Remove cover from Vario roof crossmember (7)   AR77.30-P-3976V 
2 Remove tie strap (arrow) and fold down insulation mat (5) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace tie strap (arrow). Before installing insulation mat (5): ↓  
    Check oil level in soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5), correct if required AR77.37-P-3501V 
3 Mark installation position of hydraulic lines (1) in passenger compartment    
4 Expose hydraulic lines (1) on Vario roof crossmember (7) IMPORTANT Observe marking of hydraulic lines (1): Line no. 51 is connected to piston side and line no. 53 to rod side of left trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (13)Line no. 40 is connected to piston side and line no. 42 to rod side of right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (13).
Observe installation position of hydraulic lines (1).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe installation markings.
Replace tie strap.
 
5 Close Vario roof IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions In the event of Vario roof system malfunction,
see: ↓
 
    Closing Vario roof mechanically AR77.30-P-6235V 
6 Remove left or right side paneling in trunk IMPORTANT When removing lines no. 51 and 53 remove left paneling, when removing lines no. 40 and 42 remove right paneling AR68.30-P-4800V
7 Remove upper trunk center paneling   AR68.30-P-4810VA
8 Remove left and right trunk lid partition bracket IMPORTANT When removing lines no. 51 and 53 remove left partition bracket, when removing lines no. 40 and 42 remove right partition bracket AR68.50-P-3100V
9.1 Unscrew bolts (8) and remove bracket (9) When removing lines no. 51 and no. 53.  
10 Remove left and right vapor barrier (10) IMPORTANT When removing lines no. 51 and 53 remove left vapor barrier, when removing lines no. 40 and 42 remove right vapor barrier (10)  
11 Mark installation position of hydraulic lines (1) in trunk    
12 Expose hydraulic lines (1) in trunk IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe installation markings.
Replace tie strap.
 
13.1 Remove tie strap (11) When removing lines no. 51 and no. 53.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  replace tie straps (11).
 
14 Remove insulation (2) from tubular frame (3) and install support on den tubular frame (3) as illustrated IMPORTANT This prevents the tubular frame (3) from being folded down when the trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (13) is removed.

15 Lift retainer (12) and unclip trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (13) from tubular frame (3)    
16 Remove relay strip (15) from bracket (16)    
17 Unscrew bolts (6) and remove hydraulic unit for soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) from Vario roof crossmember (7) until connections for hydraulic lines (1) are accessible TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA77.37-P-1007-01A 
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure.
Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid.
Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.  
18 Separate hydraulic lines (1) from soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) IMPORTANT Observe marking of hydraulic lines (1). AR77.37-P-1000-04V 
    NOTES Hold rag under soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) and plug hydraulic lines (1) and connections on soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5), to prevent soiling vehicle passenger compartment.

19 Remove retaining clips (14) and disconnect hydraulic lines (1) from trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (13) IMPORTANT Lay rag below hydraulic lines (1) to catch hydraulic oil running out
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace damaged retaining clips (14)
 
20 Remove hydraulic lines (1) from vehicle toward rear    
21 Install in the reverse order IMPORTANT Always replace hydraulic lines (1) in pairs
