Remove/install hydraulic cylinder for trunk lid actuation - AR77.37-P-3550V

REMOVING Remove    
DANGER Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or  , in extreme cases even sever  extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.  
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.  
1 Remove left or right side paneling in trunk   AR68.30-P-4800V
2 Switch on ignition, put up tubular frame (3) completely by actuating Vario roof actuation switch and then switch off ignition IMPORTANT When trunk partition "closed" switch is jumpered and support for arresting trunk lid in assembly position is attached.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
3 Remove vapor barrier (2) from tubular frame (3)    
4 Install support (4) on tubular frame (3) as illustrated IMPORTANT This prevents the tubular frame (3) from being folded down when the trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) is removed.

5.1 Install tie strap (5) When removing left trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).  
6.1 Open lock (6) and unclip tubular frame open limit switch (S119) from right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) When removing right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).  
7 Lift upper retainer (7) and unclip trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) from tubular frame (3) IMPORTANT Access to trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) remaining in vehicle is possible through the maintenance flap and the brush cutout in the corresponding side trunk paneling  
8 Lift lower retainer (98) on left and right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) and unclip trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) from bottom mount (9)    
9 Remove retaining clips (10) from left and right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) and disconnect hydraulic lines (11) from trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) IMPORTANT Lay rag below hydraulic lines (11) to catch hydraulic oil running out  
10 Remove left and right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) from trunk    
INSTALLING Install     
11 Connect hydraulic lines (11) to trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) IMPORTANT Observe marking of hydraulic lines (11). Connect line no. 51 to piston side and line no. 53 to rod side of left trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).
Connect line no. 40 to piston side and line no. 42 to rod side of right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).
 
12 Install retaining clips (10) on trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1)    
13 Clip trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) onto bottom mount (9)    
14 Remove support to fasten trunk lid assembly position SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
15 Remove support (4) and lock trunk lid in trunk lid lock SPECIAL TOOL Figure
16 Close tubular frame (3) by hand together with trunk lid and lock

17 Adjust trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1)   AR88.50-P-5100-02V
18.1 Install tubular frame open limit switch (S119) on right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) When installing right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).  
19.1 Install hydraulic line (11) to left trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1) with new tie strap (5) When installing left trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (1).
IMPORTANT Hydraulic line (11) is marked with no. 51.
 
20 Install left and right side paneling in trunk   AR68.30-P-4800V
21 Check oil level of hydraulic unit, correct   AR77.37-P-3501V
