Remove/install instrument cluster - AR54.30-P-6015RT

MODIFICATION NOTES

26.7.06 Disconnect/connect battery ground line and carry out basic programming removed Steps 3 and 8  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Transfer basic data from instrument cluster (A1) to STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system IMPORTANT Only when replacing the instrument cluster (A1).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Transfer basic data from STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system to new instrument cluster (A1).
IMPORTANT On vehicles with  retrofitted iPod and without  telephone, set menu point "Telephone"  in "Instrument cluster"  from "NOT PRESENT"  to "PRESENT"  with START DIAGNOSIS, to allow operation of iPod via the multifunction steering wheel.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system *WH58.30-Z-1048-13A 
2 Pull out steering wheel completely and lower fully    
3 Release instrument cluster (A1) with pulling hooks IMPORTANT Insert two pulling hooks into slots of instrument cluster (A1) (arrows B) and push down locks (2) by carefully turning pulling hooks. When doing so, apply light pressure to side (arrow directions D) of instrument cluster (A1) and, at same time, carefully pull out instrument cluster (A1) with pulling hooks (arrow E). This procedure unlocks locks (2) and releases clip (1) from mounting opening (arrow C) at rear of instrument cluster (A1).
IMPORTANT Do not damage instrument cluster (A1) and instrument panel.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Pulling hook Fig 3
4 Remove instrument cluster (A1) from instrument panel IMPORTANT Do not damage instrument cluster, wiring harness and instrument panel.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Push instrument cluster (A1) evenly into instrument panel until clip (1) and locks (2) engage. Do not trap wiring harness behind instrument cluster (A1).
 
5 Disconnect electrical connector (3)    
6 Install in the reverse order    
7 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT Stored faults which were caused by assembly, test work, disconnected cables or by a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories on completion of the work.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A

8 Carry out function check
