Disconnect/connect ground line for battery and carry out basic programming removed

Steps 2 and 10

	Remove/install
	Notes on avoiding damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge		AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1	Read out data from the electronic compass (B26) using the STAR DIAGNOSIS system	Only if the electronic compass (B26) is replaced. Using the STAR DIAGNOSIS system, transfer temporarily stored data to the new electronic compass (B26).
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
		STAR DIAGNOSIS system	*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
2	Remove instrument cluster (A1)	Do not  electrically disconnect the instrument cluster (A1). Protect the instrument cluster (A1), instrument panel, steering wheel and electric wiring harness at the instrument cluster (A1) from damage.	AR54.30-P-6015RT
3	Unscrew bolt (2)
4	Disengage bracket (1) and pull out until the electrical connector (3) can be accessed	Do not damage the electric wiring harness. Ensure correct positioning of the bracket (1) on the journal (arrow A) and in the interlock (arrow B).
5	Disconnect electrical connector (3)
6	Remove the bracket (1) together with the electronic compass (B26)
7	Remove electronic compass (B26) from the bracket (1)	Three tabs (arrows C). The electronic compass (B26) must audibly engage at the three tabs (arrows C).
8	Install in the reverse order
