Remove/install bulbs of headlamp unit - AR82.10-P-1201GZ

MODEL 164 with CODE (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination with CODE (616) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination

REMOVING Removing    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by high voltage levels present at xenon headlamps.
Risk of explosion/risk of fire  due to highly flammable materials in the area of damaged xenon bulbs
Risk of injury  from UV light, hot components at xenon headlamps and glass splinters when xenon bulbs crack
Risk of poisoning  from inhaling mercury vapors and from swallowing/skin contact with poisonous salts and mercury compounds
Do not come into contact with parts that are under high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants  (e.g. heart pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off entire lighting system. Wear insulating safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the hazard area. Ensure the work area is adequately ventilated. AS82.10-Z-0001-01A
1 Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).  
2 Remove cover (1) from left front lamp unit (E1) and right front lamp unit (E2) IMPORTANT Observe rotation direction information on the cover (1).  
3 Release xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2, E2n2) by twisting it and remove NOTES Carefully remove xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2, E2n2), otherwise the catch lugs can break off.
IMPORTANT Observe rotation direction information on the rear of the xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2, E2n2).
IMPORTANT The electrical connector (2) is disconnected automatically during removal.
 
4 Release retaining springs (arrows)    
5 Remove left low beam (E1e2) or right low beam (E2e2) IMPORTANT Do not touch the left low beam (E1e2) or right low beam (E2e2) with the fingers during removal. Handle the glass bulb only with a soft, clean cloth.  
6 Check power supply contact points for corrosion IMPORTANT If required, replace corroded parts.  
INSTALLING Install     
7 Insert and hold left low beam (E1e2) or right low beam (E2e2) IMPORTANT Do not touch the left low beam (E1e2) or right low beam (E2e2) with the fingers during installation. Handle the glass bulb only with a soft, clean cloth.
IMPORTANT Ensure that they are installed in the correct position (notch).
 
8 Lock retaining springs (arrows)    
9 Fit xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2, E2n2) and lock by twisting IMPORTANT Observe installation position and rotation direction information on the rear of the xenon headlamp ignition module (E1n2, E2n2).  
10 Connect electrical connector (2)    
11 Install cover (1) at left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) IMPORTANT Check seal in cover (1) for signs of damage and wear; replace the seal if necessary.
IMPORTANT Observe rotation direction information on the cover (1).
