MODIFICATION NOTES

21.1.11 Turn key in ignition lock to position "0", added Step 1  
Clean surrounding area of brake line connections on master brake cylinder, added Operation step 3
Immediately seal connections with stop plugs, added Operation step 4
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A

1 Turn key in ignition lock to position "0"    
2 Unlock electrical connector (2) at expansion reservoir (5) and disconnect    
CLEAN Clean     
3 Clean surrounding area of brake line connections on master brake cylinder (7) NOTES Before opening the brake system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed-air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
 
Cleaner from package *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
4 Detach brake lines (6) from master brake cylinder (7) IMPORTANT Seal connections immediately with stop plugs to prevent large quantities of brake fluid from escaping.
Collect escaping brake fluid using a suitable container.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1003-04B

5 Remove clamp bolt (8) for jump-starting point ground line    
6 Pull vacuum line (9) out of BAS brake booster (A7/7) IMPORTANT Reduce vacuum in the BAS brake booster (A7/7) by operating the service brake several times.
INSPECTInstallation:  Check rubber grommet of vacuum line (9) for damage, replace if necessary.
 
7 Remove left cover under instrument panel (1)   AR68.10-P-1500GM
8 Remove stop lamp switch (S9/1) IMPORTANT To do so, turn brake light switch (S9/1) to left and pull out.  
9 Pull out split pin (4) and mounting bolt (3) INSPECTInstallation:  Check mounting bolt (3) damage and wear, replace if necessary.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  install new split pin (4).
 
10 Unscrew nuts (13) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA43.10-P-1004-01B 
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
11 Remove BAS brake booster (A7/7) with master brake cylinder (7) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Check gasket for damage and proper seating, replace if necessary. Coat sealing surface with sealant.  
Universal sealant 205 ml *BR00.45-Z-1004-01A 
12 Install in the reverse order    
13 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010GG
INSPECT Checking     
14 Check brake system for leaks   AR42.10-P-0100-01A
15 Carry out brake test on the test stand   AP42.00-P-4290G
16 Check function of stop lamp switch (S9/1)
