Remove/install front door - AR72.10-P-0500GO

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of injury  caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or metal spatter due to short circuit. Risk of burn  injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.
Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.
Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003G

2 Activate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

3 Remove left additional turn signal lamp (E22/1) or right additional turn signal lamp (E22/2)    
4 Disconnect electrical connector from additional turn signal lamp (1)    
5.1 Remove cover beneath dashboard (left) IMPORTANT When removing left front door. AR68.10-P-1500GM
5.2 Remove cover below dashboard (right) IMPORTANT When removing right front door. AR68.10-P-1520GM
6 Remove piece of carpeting (2) from A-pillar    
7 Carefully remove foil NOTESInstallation:  Check foil, replace if necessary, otherwise moisture can penetrate into the interior compartment.  
8 Disconnect driver door separation point (X35/41) or passenger door separation point (X35/42) IMPORTANT In footwell on A-pillar.  
9 Remove electrical connectors and contacts from wiring harness on front door on potential compensation (3) IMPORTANT In footwell on A-pillar. AR54.18-P-0101-01GR
10 Remove ground cable from left additional turn signal lamp (E22/1) or right additional turn signal lamp (E22/2) IMPORTANT In footwell on A-pillar.  
11 Pull rubber grommet (4) out of A-pillar and front door IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that rubber grommet (4) is seated correctly.  
12 Pull front door wiring harness out of A-pillar IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that wiring harness is routed correctly.  
13 Remove screws from bottom door hinge (5) NOTES Support front door to prevent damaging front door or A-pillar.  
14 Remove screws from upper door hinge (6) NOTES Support front door with aid of second person, otherwise door can fall down.  
15 Remove front door    
16 Install in the reverse order    
17 Adjust front door   AR72.10-P-0550A 
18 Deactivate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

19 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT After work is complete, faults stored in the fault memory must be processed and erased. The stored faults may be caused by removed cables during installation or test operations as well as by simulation.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
