Location

The fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit is located in the area of the center console.

Task

The fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit controls the whole transfer case shift operation.

This task is split up as follows:

Reading in of sensors and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line

The following information is read in over a direct line:

Drive train CAN

The following information is read in over the drive train CAN:

(with transmission 722.6) or from fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) (Y3/8n4) (with transmission 722.9)

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components

Components are actuated with the following line:

Direct line

The following component is actuated via a direct line:

IMPORTANT The fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit also forwards its status and any faults over the drive train CAN. For diagnostic purposes a direct connection also exists to the data link connector (X11/4).
