The fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) is integrated in the electric controller unit (VGS), which is located at the bottom in the transmission.
Task
General
The fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit determines the instantaneous operating condition of the vehicle and actuates all gear change sequences taking ease of shifting and driving situation into consideration.
The fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) has the following tasks:

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

- Internal speed sensor (VGS) (Y3/8n2)

- Selection range sensor (VGS) (Y3/8s1)
- Transmission oil temperature sensor (VGS) (Y3/8s2) (integrated in fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS))
Drive train CAN
The following signals and information are read-in over the drive train CAN:
- From the EZS control unit (N73)
- Drive authorization system enable
- "Key-P function" request
- Circuit 50 signal, influence on fault storage process
- From ESP control unit (N30/4)
- Wheel speeds and direction of rotation, substitute values in the event of failure of the output shaft RPM sensor
- Adjusted braking torque, change of shift strategy, brake the vehicle, transmission shifts down earlier
- Vehicle lateral acceleration at center of gravity, adaptation of shift strategy, detection of dynamic driving style
- Cruise control operation, special shifting strategy
- ESP request shift to "N", interruption of power flow
- BAS release switch (A7/7s1), change of shift strategy, brake the vehicle, transmission shifts down earlier
- ESP specified torque, torque reduction or torque increase
- From CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine)
