Task

The restraint systems control unit is used to ensure passive occupant protection. If an accident occurs, the restraint systems control unit triggers the restraint equipment. This includes the airbag units and the emergency tensioning retractor units. The restraint systems control unit has self-monitoring and fault monitoring features. Frontal, rear end, and side impacts are recorded, and a distinction is made between the different types of impact.

IMPORTANT The restraint systems control unit is not a subscriber of the interior CAN (CAN B). Signals to be sent via interior CAN are read in by the rear signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/2) and sent via interior CAN.
