Location

The coolant temperature sensor is located at the front on the engine.

Task

The coolant temperature sensor records the temperature of the coolant. The value of the coolant temperature sensor is read in by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (for diesel engines) or by ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (for gasoline engines) and sent via the drive train CAN.

The EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) routs the value on the interior CAN. The AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) reads in the value and uses this in regulation of the automatic climate control.
