Location 

The rear SAM [signal acquisition and actuation module] is located on the center tunnel.

Task 

The rear SAM is connected for exchanging data over the interior CAN (CAN-B).

Limit switches supply systems and control units with voltage to match the function sequence. The requests are sent to the rear SAM over the interior CAN or over read-in switches and sensors.

IMPORTANT The rear SAM reads in signals from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) discretely and passes these on.

The individual components are protected via fuses contained in the fuse and relay block.
