Rumbling noise in area of rear axle - AF32.25-P-1020CG

MODEL 211.0## 1A up to 143040 except CODE (489a) Airmatic (semi-active air suspension) 

Damage code	Cause	Remedy
	Play in rubber bearing metal bushing in bottom fastening eye for shock absorber due to corrosion.	Replace rubber bearing for bottom fastening eye with part number A 211 326 00 96:
	Thumping noise from area of rear axle on rough roads.	↓
		1 Remove shock absorber.	AR32.25-P-0110TS
		2 Press metal bushing out of rubber bearing (see Fig 3).

		3 Press rubber bearing into shock absorber eye against stop with press. Use installation fluid (see Fig 4).

		4 Completely press out rubber bearing with suitable punch and sleeve (see Fig 5).

		5 Press in new elastomer bearing with sleeve. Bearing must be seated straight in shock absorber eye. Press bearing slightly beyond center point, then press back to center position (use installation fluid, see Fig 6).
		6 Clamp shock absorber with shock absorber eye in vise and move bearing back and forth until it is seated correctly (see Fig 7). See Fig 8 for correct elastomer bearing seat.
		7 Install shock absorber.	AR32.25-P-0110TS
