Remove/install brake shoes of parking brake - AR42.20-P-0530T

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by body parts being jammed or crushed. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. AS42.46-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Notes on repairs to brake system   AH42.00-P-0003-01A
1 Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)
IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
Select menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Deactivate 'SBC' system".
Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.

2 Remove brake disk (61) from the rear axle   AR42.10-P-0220R 
3 Detach front retracting spring (111) SPECIAL TOOL using removal and installation tool (040) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 2
4 Detach l rear retracting spring (112) SPECIAL TOOL using removal and installation tool (040) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 2
5 Remove upper retaining spring (107) SPECIAL TOOL using installation tool (041) IMPORTANT Squeeze the upper retaining spring (107) together and turn 90° counterclockwise or clockwise.

6 Take off top brake shoe (103) IMPORTANT If the brake shoes (103) are burnt or brake disk surfaces are damaged, the brake shoes (103), retracting springs (111, 112), retaining springs (107) and brake disks (61) must be replaced.  
7 Take off adjusting mechanism (105) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Apply light coating of MB long-life grease to thread of thrust piece (104) and inner cylinder of adjusting mechanism (105). Turn back the adjusting mechanism (105) and place on the lower brake shoe (103) in such a way that the adjustment wheel (c) points upward.

8 Remove lower retaining spring (107) SPECIAL TOOL using installation tool (041) and remove lower brake shoes (103) IMPORTANT Squeeze the lower retaining spring (107) together and turn 90° counterclockwise or clockwise.  
9 Remove expansion lock (109). To do this, fold open expansion lock (109) and press pin (109a) out of expansion lock (109) and rear brake cable (86). IMPORTANTInstallation:  Lightly grease the pin (109a) as well as the bearing and slide surfaces on the expansion lock (109) with MB long-life grease.

INSPECT Checking     
10 Inspect cap (110). IMPORTANT Check cap (110) is seated firmly, check for score marks and deformation, replace if necessary.  
NOTES Notes on installing the cap on the brake stator   AH42.20-P-0530-01T
11 Check rear brake cable (86) IMPORTANT Check for ease of movement and chafing marks, replace if necessary:

    Install new rear brake cable (86). AR42.20-P-0525T 
12 Install in the reverse order    
13 Adjust parking brake   AR42.20-P-0540T 
14 Activate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)
IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
Select the menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Initial startup after repair"/"Remove/install brake shoes".
Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.
