REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by body parts being jammed or crushed. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. AS42.46-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

1 Connect charger to battery IMPORTANT The vehicle must be able to be raised with charger connected.  
2 Remove cover above brake fluid reservoir (10) IMPORTANT Only on vehicles with cover above brake fluid reservoir (10).  
3 Clean cap (11) and brake fluid reservoir (10)    
4 Unscrew cap (11) of brake fluid reservoir (10) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir *BA42.50-P-1001-01D 
5 Suction off brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir (10) Brake fluid changer (for barrel container)
 
Brake fluid changer with reservoir (10-20 l)
 
 
6 Fill with new brake fluid up to the "MAX" mark in the brake fluid reservoir (10)    
7 Connect filling and bleeding device NOTES Only approved brake and bleeding units may be used, as otherwise malfunctions may occur in the SBC system.
IMPORTANT Follow directions in operating manual supplied by manufacturer.
Set bleeding pressure to between 2 bar and 2.5 bar.

8 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANT It must be possible to raise the vehicle with the STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnostic system connected.
Position diagnostic system such that its display screen can be seen from the driver seat.
IMPORTANT Pay attention to the diagnostic connector when entering the vehicle.
 
9 Raise vehicle    
10 Remove wheel-and-tire assembly When the bleed screws are not accessible.  
models 211, 230 AP40.10-P-4050Z

11 Have empty receptacle ready IMPORTANT Total quantity for change up to 2250 ml.

12 Carry out brake fluid change using STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
Select menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control" and appropriate menu item for brake fluid change.
Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.
IMPORTANT Extremely high pressure: Secure bleed hose with electrohydraulic brake adapter to prevent it from slipping off the bleed screw.
IMPORTANT New brake fluid must escape free of bubbles at the bleed screws of the brake calipers.
Front axle model 211:

13 Replace brake fluid in clutch system IMPORTANT Only in case of vehicles with manual transmission.
IMPORTANT New brake fluid must escape free of bubbles at the bleed screws on the central clutch release bearing.
