Rear emergency tensioning retractor component description - GF91.60-P-4043SX
MODEL 216.3, 221.0 /1 up to Model Year 8
Shown on model 221.0
Location
The ETR units with the associated rear emergency tensioning retractor squibs are located next to the C-pillar.
Task
The ETR units take up the seat belt slack in the event of a frontal impact or rear-end collision and prevent the film reel effect of the seat belt.
The close-fitting seat belt means that vehicle occupants are subjected to the deceleration forces acting on the body at an earlier stage. Triggering is conducted by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) igniting the squibs.
