Location

The belt buckle emergency tensioning retractors are located at the seat frame of the respective front seat.

Task

The belt buckle emergency tensioning retractors take up the seat belt slack in the event of a frontal impact or rear-end collision and prevent the film reel effect of the seat belts.

The close-fitting seat belt means that vehicle occupants are subjected to the deceleration forces acting on the body at an earlier stage. Triggering is conducted by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) igniting the squibs.
