Location

The fuel level sensor is located in the fuel tank. If the fuel tank is divided into two chambers, each chamber has a fuel level sensor.

Task

Determines the fuel level for the following functions:

Fuel level indicator
Leakage check of regeneration system
Misfire detection.

Design

Float-and-lever sensor with two wiper contacts (potentiometer) and a float.

Function

To change the resistance values depending on the fuel level. The signals are transmitted to the nearest SAM control unit (e. g. rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module for models 171, 211, 219, 221). The signal are digitalized there and transmitted to the CAN data bus.
