Joint hub, pressing off/on rear halfshaft, staking tool for securing joint hub on rear halfshaft Half shells (2 pieces) for pressing off or for caulking the inner constant velocity joint

Pressing off joint hub 

1. Press joint hub (37d) off the rear axle using drift.
2. Check joint hub (37d) and rear halfshaft (37a) for damage on spline edges.

   If on the splined shaft profile of the joint hub (arrow) not more than 3 teeth per caulking have broken out up to a maximum length of 6 mm, the joint hub (37d) can be used again.

Pressing on joint hub 

3. Select clamping jaws for 25 mm, 27 mm or 32 mm rear axle shafts.
4. Press on joint hub (37d) until the dimension (b) is achieved using a suitable tool.

Caulking joint hub 

5. Clamp the rear axle shaft in vise so that the joint hub (37d) lies on the half shells.
6. Stake at points halfway between the old staking marks (arrows).

   To prevent damage (e.g. rupture) in the ball races, the caulking points must be as close as possible to the splined profile.
