The multifunction display (A1p13) is operated via the following buttons:

With the buttons stated it is possible to call up in the multifunction display the display of various systems A1 and scroll within a system.

Likewise the following individual adjustments can be made:

If the instrument cluster (A1) is activated e.g. by opening the driver door, the basic display of the base function of trip odometer and total mileage always appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).

Calling the display of various systems 

The function requirement is "circuit 15R ON".

By pressing the system selection button (S110s3) of the multifunction steering wheel MFL the multifunction display (A1p13) is switched over to the basic display of the next or previous system.

The duration of the actuation is irrelevant for this. When the system selection button (S110s3) is pressed with the button on the inside the display skips on to the next basic system display.

When the system selection button is pressed (S110s3) with the button on the outside the display switches back to the previous basic system display in each case.

If all the systems have been run through, the basic display of the base function is reached again. When the system selection button (S110s3) is pressed again, the menu is again run through in the direction selected in each case.

The above illustration shows the possible basic displays located on a circle:

The function requirement in order to scroll within a system is "circuit 15R ON". When the system selection button (S110s3) is pressed with the button on the inside the display changes on to the next basic display. When the system selection button (S110s3) is pressed with the button on the outside the display changes back to the previous basic display.

IMPORTANT Only the basic displays of the systems and functions with which the vehicle is equipped are displayed. If a system is not fitted, it is not displayed when the system selection button (S110s3) is pressed.

In addition to the main screen, most systems also feature other screens.

The scroll forward/back button (S110s1) is used to scroll within a system.

The function of the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) is shown in the lower illustration on the example of the base function trip odometer, total mileage.

IMPORTANT By pressing the system selection button (S110s3) it is possible to switch over from any display screen into another basic display.

Change sequence of function adjustments:

Via the "ADJUSTMENTS" function the driver has the option of adjusting the following default settings in the instrument cluster (A1) while driving:

Via the "ADJUSTMENTS" basic display the driver has the option of carrying out the following default settings in the instrument cluster (A1):

Up to 31.05.01 adjustments are only possible at speeds < 5 km/h. If the speed increases to > 10 km/h during the adjustment, the display switches back to the "adjustments" basic display Only once the speed has dropped again to < 5 km/h, does the display switch back to the previous display screen.

IMPORTANT As of 01.06.01 (for all vehicles except z) adjustments are also possible at speeds > 5 km/h. The driving lamps are an exception.

Resetting the factory settings 

All the adjustments are reset to the manufacturer default setting by this process:

The settings are then not reset.

IMPORTANT As of 01.06.03 the instrument cluster (A1) detects the trip odometer reset button (A1s3) as jammed, if it is pressed for more than 60 seconds. The trip odometer reset button (A1s3) is then interpreted by the instrument cluster (A1) as not pressed.

IMPORTANT As of 01.06.01 (for all vehicles except GREAT BRITAIN ONLY ) the reproduction of the manufacturer default settings can be performed while driving. With the "instrument cluster", "illumination" and "vehicle" adjustments the message "NOT COMPLETELY RESET TO MANUFACTURER DEFAULT SETTINGS WHILE DRIVING" appears.

Calling stored error and warning messages 

When the instrument cluster (A1) is active, you can scroll though the saved messages:

Acknowledging error and warning messages on the multifunction display (A1p13) 

Most messages in the multifunction display (A1p13) can be acknowledged by pressing the trip odometer reset button (A1s3).

Setting the illumination brightness 

Using the variable resistor for instrument illumination (A1r1) the brightness of the illumination of the instrument cluster (A1) as well as the controls and switch illumination can be adapted to individual needs. Turning the variable resistor for instrument illumination (A1r1) clockwise causes an increase in brightness, turning it counterclockwise causes a reduction in brightness.

Adjust workshop level in the instrument cluster (A1) 

The function requirement is "circuit 15R ON".

The following steps are necessary in order to reach the display of workshop level in the multifunction display (A1p13):

Via the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) on the multifunction steering wheel MFL it is possible to change between the individual sub-items:

Switch on roller test mode 

With the roller test mode the wheel speeds of the driven axle are reflected in the non-driven axle. This is necessary on the brake test stand so that no fault is entered in the ESP and BAS control unit (N47-5).

To do this, the following adjustment must be made:

IMPORTANT Even if "circuit 5R ON" has been switched off in the meantime, the roller test mode remains active until it is switched off using the + and - button, adjustment of specific functions and volume control (S111s1).
