The air recirculation flap actuator is secured to the supercharger on the left.

Task

The air recirculation flap actuator controls the boost pressure by continuously variable adjustment (between 0 and 90°) of the air recirculation flap.

The air recirculation flap actuator consists of the following components:

Housing
Electrical connection
Actuator motor
Actual value potentiometer 2
Air recirculation flap

Function

The recirculated air flap actuator is actuated by the ME control unit (N3/10) for charge air control. Here, both actual value potentiometers inform the ME control unit of the actual position of the air recirculation flap (between 0 and 90°). The air recirculation flap is always closed at full throttle (maximum charge pressure).

In de-energized status and in the event of a fault at the actuator, the air recirculation flap is held by an integrated return spring in the open position.
