Arrangement
The charge air cooler is located laterally under the engine cooler.
Task
The charge air cooler cools down the charge air heated up by compression. This improves the cylinder charge level and reduces the formation of NOx tan thanks to lower exhaust gas temperatures.
Design
The charge air cooler is a heat exchanger in crossflow format.
Function
The suctioned air warms up due to the compression in the supercharger.
The charge air gives up its intake air/charge air heat to the air stream passed through the charge air cooler, which is located directly downstream of the supercharger.
