Removing and installing gas pressure strut on tailgate - AR72.20-P-3600PA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Removing, installing     
DANGER Risk of injury  to fingers being jammed or squeezed  when removing and installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/tailgate and sliding roof. When moving components ensure that no body parts or limbs are in the area of movement. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Injury hazard  Gas pressure struts are under high pressure and can pinch and crush body parts during work Remove and install gas pressure struts only in relaxed position and on components properly secured. AS00.00-Z-0012-01A
1 Secure tailgate with support    
2 Lift retainer (4) on upper ball head (1) NOTESInstallation:  Check retainer and replace if damaged.
IMPORTANT Do not remove retainer, otherwise tension will be lost.
 
3 Remove upper ball head (1) IMPORTANTInstallation:  First insert retainer into ball head, then press on ball head.  
4 Lift retainer (4) at bottom ball head (3) NOTESInstallation:  Check retainer and replace if damaged.
IMPORTANT Do not remove retainer, otherwise tension will be lost.
 
5 Remove bottom ball head (3) IMPORTANTInstallation:  First insert retainer into ball head, then press on ball head.  
6 Remove gas pressure strut (2) IMPORTANT When replacing gas pressure strut ↓  
REFER TO FORMS   Dispose of gas pressure strut (old part) OS00.00-P-1001-01A
7 Install in the reverse order
