Location 

The clutch pedal switch is located at the top of the clutch pedal.

Task 

When the driver presses the clutch pedal, the idle speed is stabilized, the cruise control is switched off and the overrun fuel shutoff is canceled out as the driver changes gear. Additional start enable clutch pedal switch (S40/5) for start enable only when clutch pedal is pressed all the way down.

Function 

The clutch pedal switch detects the top position of the clutch pedal.

The switch has a contact which switches to ground. The switch opens when the driver presses the pedal slightly:

Clutch pedal not operated 

Contact closed/signal at ME-SFI [ME] control unit "LOW".

Clutch pedal pressed slightly 

Contact open/signal at ME-SFI [ME] control unit "HIGH".

In accordance with legal requirements, the start enable clutch pedal switch (S40/5) is located at the bottom position of the clutch pedal.

This switch ensures that the engine can only be started when the clutch pedal is fully depressed. The switch switches to ground.

Clutch pedal not operated 

Contact open/signal at ME-SFI [ME] control unit "HIGH".

Clutch pedal pressed all the way down 

Contact closed/signal at ME-SFI [ME] control unit "LOW".
