Remove/install retaining lock for crankshaft / ring gear engine 272 - AR03.30-P-5000VA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Raise vehicle with lifting platform   AR00.60-P-1000V
2 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105V
3 Dismount assembly flap at the engine IMPORTANT The starter must not be removed.  
INSPECT Checking     
4 Check toothing of the ring gear on the two-mass flywheel or on the drive plate IMPORTANT Check the splines for wear and damage by continuing to rotate the engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the engine's direction of rotation. If necessary: ↓  
    Replace the two-mass flywheel or drive plate AR03.30-P-8001V 
DANGER Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or  , in extreme cases even sever  extremities. Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. -
5 SPECIAL TOOL Insert the retaining lock (5) into the access opening and allow it to latch into the ring gear IMPORTANT If required, rotate the engine further at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the engine's direction of rotation until the SPECIAL TOOL retaining lock (5) snaps completely into place.

6 Install in the reverse order
