Display engine-oil level
The function requirement for this is that the transmitter key (A8/1) is in position "circuit 15 ON".
The following procedure is required to display the engine oil level:
- Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the basic display (main and trip odometer) appears in the upper multifunction display (A1p13) (only necessary if the basic display is not yet shown).
- Press the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) repeatedly until the upper multifunction display (A1p13) displays the message "Engine oil level measurement in progress! Measurement is correct only when vehicle is on level ground".
- If the vehicle is not level: abort the measurement via further actuation of the system selection buttons (S110s3) within 3 s.
- If the measurement is not aborted, the current oil level message appears after approx. 4 s. If the vehicle is not on level ground during a measurement, faulty measurements may occur.
Resetting the Active Service System Plus (ASSYST PLUS) after an oil change (oil change reset) on the instrument cluster (A1)
The function requirement for this is that the transmitter key (A8/1) is in position "circuit 15R ON".
The following procedure is required to reset ASSYST PLUS:
- Only reset the ASSYST PLUS (oil change reset) after performing an oil change! The oil change reset should be carried out via STAR DIAGNOSIS if possible!
- Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the upper multifunction display (A1p13) shows the basic display (main and trip odometer). This is only necessary if the default image is not yet displayed.
- Press the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) repeatedly until the service symbol and the current remaining distance, the remaining time or the service exceeded is displayed.
- Press the reset button on the instrument cluster (A1) for approx. 3 s until the request "To reset press reset button for 3 sec" appears in the upper multifunction display (A1p13).
- Press reset button again within 5 sec.
- The indication "Service interval was reset" appears.
- The upper multifunction display (A1p13) shows the current "Remaining distance" in kilometers or miles.
An inadvertently conducted oil change reset can only be revoked via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
Oil level measuring message by driver request
This instruction is displayed when the oil level is called up but the ignition is not yet switched on.
Request
This message is displayed if the driver requests the oil level during "Engine ON".
If the message "Comply with waiting time" appears, the user did not comply with the prescribed waiting time.
Measuring the oil level is only possible following the expiration of a waiting time following "engine OFF".
Oil level measuring message by driver request
This instruction is always displayed when the oil level is called up. The oil level can only be measured correctly when the vehicle is parked on level ground. This display reminds the driver as such.
Information message after oil level request
This display appears when the oil level is checked and the measurement shows the oil level to be OK.
Warning message
This message is displayed if there is a fault in the system or an oil sensor defect (oil level, temperature and quality) (B40).
Warning message
This message is displayed if there is too much oil in the engine.
Amount of oil lacking
This message appears when the oil level is checked and the measurement shows the oil level to be too low.
The following quantities may be displayed:
- 1.0 ltr., 1.5 ltrs., 2.0 ltrs.
- 1.0 qt., 1.5 qts., 2.0 qts.
Warning messages
If this display appears, the oil sensor (oil level, temperature and quality) (B40) has detected that the engine oil quality is poor (water, contamination).
Engine oil warning messages
Too little oil can cause engine damage
There is risk of engine damage if the vehicle continues to be driven.
This message is displayed if the oil has dropped to a level at which the engine could be damaged.
