Remove/install power steering radiator - AR46.25-P-3020VT

MODEL 171.473 with ENGINE 113.989

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. -
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, tailgates or sliding roof Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. -
1 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000V
2 Remove left intake air duct    
3 Extract oil from expansion reservoir of power steering pump NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Hand pump Figure
4 Loosen hose clamp (1) and detach hydraulic line (30f) from power steering radiator (31). IMPORTANT Seal connections with stop plugs. Check condition of hose clamp (1) and hydraulic line (30f); replace if necessary.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1011-01D 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of stop plugs Figure
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
5 Raise vehicle with vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-1000V
6 Detach front bumper   AR88.20-P-2000V
7 Detach bracket (2) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure power steering radiator (31) is installed in correct position.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.25-P-1002-02B 
8 Remove front part of engine compartment paneling IMPORTANTInstallation:  Only install engine compartment paneling after the leak test. AR61.20-P-1105V
9 Remove fan shroud   AR20.40-P-6800VT
10 Loosen radiator grille    
11 Detach radiator unit with condenser and place in engine interior compartment    
12 Remove power steering radiator (31) forwards.    
13 Install in the reverse order    
14 Fill power steering pump and bleed   AR46.30-P-0010V 
15 Check function of power steering and for leaks
