Remove/install front seat backrest seat-back lining - AR91.10-P-1910V

5.8.04 Seat-back lining attachment changed, additional latching hooks in lower area Steps 8 to 12
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by backrest suddenly folding forward if release lever is accidentally operated during inspection and repair work When working on the seat, be careful not to accidentally release the backrest mechanism allowing the seat to fold forward. Keep body parts clear of the backrest travel area. AS91.00-Z-0005-01V 
1 Open Vario roof completely IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
2 Raise head restraint (2) of left or right seat as far as possible IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
3 Pull out boot (3) towards the front and release from left and right head restraint guides (4) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Boot (3) must latch into the head restraint guides (4).  
4 Unscrew bolts (5) on left and right    
5 Set left or right front seat up and to the front IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
6 Tilt the backrest (6) forward IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
7 Remove bolts (7)    
8 Tilt the backrest (6) backwards IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
9 Push upholstery (9) on left and right of backrest frame (8) to the side a little and unclip the latching hooks (10) with a mounting wedge SPECIAL TOOL Figure
10 Tilt the backrest (6) forward IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
11 Remove seat-back lining (1) downward from backrest frame (8) NOTES Do not damage paint on backrest frame (8), backrest frame (8) may corrode.  
    IMPORTANT Use touch-up pencil to rectify any paint damage at positions which are subsequently not visible.
Paint damage in the visible area of the backrest frame (8) cannot be touched up. If necessary, the backrest frame (8) will have to be replaced.

    Remove/install front seat backrest frame (8)
IMPORTANT In order to install a new backrest frame (8) the backrest frame (8) must be removed without the front seat backrest adjusted.

12 Install in the reverse order
