Location The driver-side SAM control unit is located in the left front control unit box in the engine compartment.
Task The driver-side SAM control unit has the following tasks: Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals; Evaluation of input factors; Control of systems; Actuation of components; Power supply and relay switching.
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals The input factors are read in with the following connections: Direct line; Interior CAN.
Direct line The following components are read in via a direct line: Coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) - Refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) (with code (580) Automatic air conditioning or code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning) - Outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) - Rotary light switch (S1) - Brake fluid indicator switch (S11) - Parking brake switch (S12) - Backup lamp switch (S16/2) (with transmission 716) - Coolant level indicator switch (S41) - Windshield washer system fluid level indicator switch (S42).
Interior CAN The driver-side SAM control unit reads in function-relevant information via the interior CAN.
Evaluation of input factors The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.
