Remove/install front seat backrest frame - AR91.10-P-3331VA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by backrest suddenly folding forward if release lever is accidentally operated during inspection and repair work When working on the seat, be careful not to accidentally release the backrest mechanism allowing the seat to fold forward. Keep body parts clear of the backrest travel area. AS91.00-Z-0005-01V 
DANGER Risk of injury.  Injuries may result when performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100°C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.  
1 Remove the left or right front seat   AR91.10-P-1000V 
2 Remove the backrest upholstery from the left or right front seat On vehicles without code (873) heated seats, left and right front seats AR91.10-P-1090V 
    On vehicles with code (873) heated seats, left and right front seats AR91.10-P-1090VA 
3 Remove the tie strap (2). Disconnect the electrical connector (3) and ground line (4) at the driver sidebag squib (R12/9) or the front passenger sidebag squib (R12/10) IMPORTANTInstallation:  replace tie straps (2).  
4.1 Separate electrical connectors (8) Only on vehicles with code (403) Airscarf system  
5 Remove the screws (5) at the driver sidebag squib (R12/9) or front passenger sidebag squib (R12/10)   *BA91.60-P-1015-01A 
6.1 Remove front seat sidebag unit Only when installing a new backrest frame (1). AR91.60-P-0695V 
7.1 Remove the screws (7) and then remove the left AIRSCARF fan motor (M4/10) or right AIRSCARF fan motor (M4/11) Only when installing a new backrest frame (1) on vehicles with code (403) Airscarf system.
NOTES Take care not to damage the paint on the backrest frame (1), otherwise the backrest frame (1) may corrode.
 
    IMPORTANT Repair any paint damage in places that will not be visible later with a touch-up pencil. *BR00.45-Z-1012-07A 
    Paint damage in visible areas of the backrest frame (1) cannot be touched up. If necessary, the backrest frame (1) must be replaced.  
8.1 Remove head restraint guides (9) Only when installing a new backrest frame (1).
NOTES Take care not to damage the paint on the backrest frame (1), otherwise the backrest frame (1) may corrode.
 
    IMPORTANT Repair the paint damage in places that will not be visible later with a touch-up pencil. Paint damage in visible areas of the backrest frame (1) cannot be touched-up. If necessary, the backrest frame (1) must be replaced. *BR00.45-Z-1012-07A 
9.1 Install the driver seat on the clamping device Only on vehicles without code (275a) memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirror) AR91.10-P-3331-01V

11 Remove the screws (6) at the backrest frame (1) on both left and right sides NOTES Take care not to damage the paint on the backrest frame (1), otherwise the backrest frame (1) may corrode.  
    IMPORTANT Repair the paint damage in places that will not be visible later with a touch-up pencil.
Paint damage in visible areas of the backrest frame (1) cannot be touched-up. If necessary, the backrest frame (1) must be replaced.

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.10-P-1018-01A 
12 Remove the backrest frame (1)    
13 Install in the reverse order
