Align side flap for Vario roof - AR77.30-P-6373V

MODIFICATION NOTES

15.3.07 Gap between side flap and upper center column paneling   *BE77.30-P-1008-01A 
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or  , in extreme cases, even sever  extremities. Keep all body parts and limbs away from moving mechanical components. -
1 Check adjustment of rear shelf main flap (2), correct if necessary IMPORTANT The side flaps (1) can only be adjusted when the rear shelf main flap (2) is correctly adjusted. AR77.30-P-6341V 
2 Check transition (B) from rear shelf main flap (1) to side flap (2) with straight edge. IMPORTANT The side flap (1) should be flush with the rear shelf main flap (2) or max. 1 mm deeper.
Check with Vario roof open and trunk lid closed.
 
3 Check transition (D) from upper center column paneling (3) to side flap (1) with straight edge IMPORTANT The side flap (1) should be flush with the upper center pillar paneling (3) or max. 1 mm deeper.  
4 Check alignment of side flap (1) to left and right upper center column paneling (3) and rear shelf main flap (2). IMPORTANT The joint gaps (A, C) should be parallel to one another and not deviate by more than 1 mm over the entire length.

5 Switch on ignition and open trunk lid by actuating Vario roof actuation switch. Then switch off ignition and remove transmitter key from EIS control unit IMPORTANT The Vario roof should stop moving when the rear shelf main flap (2) is positioned vertically and before the Vario roof starts to close. The trunk lid opens toward rear.
The Vario roof hydraulic system is depressurized approx. 15 s after the transmitter key is removed and the rear shelf main flap (2) can be moved manually together with the side flaps (1).
 
6 Fold down rear shelf main flap (2) by hand IMPORTANT Fold out side flaps (1).  
7 Check position of side flap (1) in side flap mount (7) IMPORTANT Bracket (8) should run completely into hook (9) on rear shelf main flap (2). The cam (11) on the side flap mount (7) should make contact with the system (12). The side flap (1) folded out should not have any play in the pivoting direction (arrow E).  
  Adjust     
8 Adjust rear shelf main flap (2) by hand IMPORTANT Side flaps (1) fold in.  
9 Loosen bolts (13) until spacers (14) can be removed or inserted.    
10 Adjust transitions (B, D) by removing or inserting spacers (14). Tighten bolts (13) until spacers (14) are fastened and the side flap (1) can still be moved IMPORTANT Manually actuate rear shelf main flap (2) to check the adjustment The side flap (1) folded out should make slight contact with the lug (15) on the upper center column paneling (3).  
11 Fold down rear shelf main flap (2) by hand IMPORTANT Fold out side flaps (1).  
12 Adjust position side flap (1) on side flap mount (7) by moving side flap (1) IMPORTANT Bracket (8) should run completely into hook (9). The cam (11) on the side flap mount (7) should make contact with the system (12). If adjusted correctly the side flap (1) folded out should not have any play in the pivoting direction (arrow E). Simultaneously observe joint gaps (A, C). The joint gaps (A, C) should be parallel to one another and not deviate by more than 1 mm over the entire length.

13 Tighten bolts (13) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA77.30-P-1013-01B 
14 Check adjustment, repeat if necessary
