MODEL 171.4 with CODE (428) Steering wheel shift buttons 

The switch positions of the following components are read in by steering column module (N80) via the local interconnect network (LIN): 

• Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
  • Scroll forward/back button (S110s1)
  • System selection button (S110s3)
  • Fanfare horn system button (S110s5)
• Right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
  • Buttons + and - for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1)
  • Accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3)
  • Fanfare horn system button (S111s5)
• Left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2) and right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2) (up to 31.5.06)
• Steering wheel gear shifter MINUS (S110/1) and steering wheel gear shifter PLUS (S111/1) (as of 1.6.06)

If several functions are simultaneously requested at the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) or the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111), the instrument cluster (A1) will always only activate one function.

Prioritization for simultaneous button press at the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110): 

• Fanfare horn button (S110s5)
• System select button (S110s3)
• Scroll forward/back button (S110s1)

Prioritization for simultaneous button press at the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111): 

• Fanfare horn button (S111s5)
• Accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3)
• Buttons + and - for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1)
