Range, function - GF54.50-P-2006RR
MODEL 230
Display of estimated range:
Range, function
- Activate the "range" display using the system selection button (S110s3) and scroll forward/back button (S110s1) on the multifunction steering wheel.
- The text "RANGE" appears on the left multifunction display (A1p13).
- The estimated range appears on the right multifunction display (A1p15).
Depending on setting, the estimated travel range is displayed in either miles or kilometers.
The range is calculated by taking the quotient of the fuel tank content and the average fuel consumption ("SINCE START").
The following information is therefore required to calculate the range:
- the current tank content
- the average fuel consumption rate; the data is taken from the short-distance memory ("SINCE START")
The range is displayed in increments of one mile or one kilometer.
The range is updated more frequently when the fuel level in the tank is in the reserve range. The reserve range employed for these calculations may vary slightly from the reserve range of the fuel level and reserve indicator (A1p2) in the instrument cluster (A1).
To calculate the fuel tank content the trip computer in the instrument cluster (A1) requires the following information:
- The rear SAM control unit (N10/8) monitors the fuel gauge sensor (B4) and relays the corresponding data on the interior CAN.
The instrument cluster (A1) receives this message, evaluates it and displays the corresponding value as the tank content.
Updates are conducted in increments of one liter or 0.2 gallons.
