Disconnect ground line replaced by switch off ignition

Step 3

	Remove/install
	Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge		AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1	Buffer basic data from instrument cluster (A1) in STAR DIAGNOSIS	When installing new instrument cluster (A1).
		Installation:  Transfer the cached basic data to the new instrument cluster (A1).
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
		STAR DIAGNOSIS system	*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
2	Remove trim of instrument cluster (1)		AR68.10-P-3511R
3	Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit	On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go, press the Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove the Keyless Go transmitter card or transmitter key from the vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (min. 2 m).
4	Remove bolts (2) from instrument cluster (A1)
5	Pull instrument cluster (A1) out of the instrument panel (4) until the electrical connector (3) is accessible
6	Release and unplug electrical connector (3) and remove instrument cluster (A1).
7	Install in the reverse order
8.1	Read fault memory, erase if necessary	Only if the instrument cluster (A1) has not been replaced.
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
		STAR DIAGNOSIS system	*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
