Tire pressure monitor (TPM), function-related messages - GF40.15-P-0001-04B

Models 215, 220 up to 30.9.00

Function-related messages in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) alert the driver to a system state in which neither the current tire pressures nor any operation-related messages can be displayed.

Function-related messages are divided into:

System errors are stored in the TPM control unit (N88) with a fault code, system messages with an event code.

IMPORTANT System messages describe a regular operating condition and there is no reason to replace system components in the event of a complaint.

The following function-related messages may occur:

System error

This message is displayed in the event of errors on the CAN data bus or failure of a system component, or if at least 1 wheel without wheel electronics is installed. A corresponding fault code is stored in the TPM control unit (N88).

System error

This message is output by the instrument cluster (A1) if it fails to receive CAN signals from the TPM control unit (N88) or if there is a fault in the instrument cluster (A1) itself. This message also appears in the event of an open circuit or broken connection in the TPM control unit (N88).

IMPORTANT This message likewise appears if the TPM control unit (N88) is disconnected and then reconnected with the ignition ON.

System message

When the driver presses TPM activation pushbutton (S107), this message tells him that the system is activated. This occurs when the tire inflation pressure changes, when the tires are changed or when the wheels are replaced.

IMPORTANT The system can only be activated with "ignition ON" and "engine OFF".

System message

This system message appears in the instrument cluster (A1) if the TPM activation pushbutton (S107) is used incorrectly (e.g. TPM activation pushbutton (S107) held down for longer than 4 s). In this case the activation sequence must be repeated.

System message

This system message is activated when the following criteria are met:

Pressure display without numerical values

IMPORTANT After activation, the pressure values are only displayed when the system has been able to match the signals to the wheels. Until the initialization sequence is complete (total driving time max. 30 min), a pressure display without numerical values is displayed instead of the pressure values.
