General

The fire extinguishing system substantially reduces the risk of injury to persons unable to exit the vehicle in the event of and similar circumstances.

Function

After fire extinguishing system temperature sensor has detected a fire, the fire extinguishing system is automatically  triggered. The extinguishing agent flows out of 2 extinguishing agent canisters (1) into the pipe system (2) and exits from the holes and nozzles in the pipe system (2) (2 scoop-type nozzles in the engine compartment and 78 holes beneath the vehicle).

The fire extinguishing system has been designed to put out fires in the engine compartment as well as on the entire surface beneath the vehicle.

When the fire extinguishing system is triggered, the fire extinguishing system warning buzzer goes off at the same time, since the fire is often noticed too late by the driver whilst driving.

In order to increase functional reliability the current supply to the fire extinguishing system temperature sensors is provided using fireproof cables (temperature resistant up to 1100 °C).

The fire extinguishing system remains ready for operation when the vehicle is parked. Electrical current from the on-board system is needed only for monitoring purposes and to trigger the device.

The fire extinguishing system can also be triggered manually  using the fire extinguishing system manual activation switch.

IMPORTANT The extinguishing agent that is used is "Aerosol"  extinguishing powder. It is particularly suitable for use in passenger vehicles because of its extremely effective extinguishing properties and the fact that it is non-toxic.

Aerosol does not cause corrosion damage to the engine, the electrical system or other components. It just leaves behind a little residue that can easily be removed using compressed air or an engine wash.
