The plunger travel sensor (B22/1) is fully integrated (including measuring electronics) inside of piston rod (e) of the spring strut. Only the electrical plug connection (y) is visible at the top end of the spring strut. The sensor consists of the electronic part (in the nonmagnetic piston rod (e)) and a movable position magnet (f).

The position magnet is firmly connected to the hydraulic cylinder of the spring strut and its position is altered by the hydraulic cylinder being filled and emptied. Consequently, the position magnet transmits the respective change to the base point of the spring.
