Task
The emergency call system control unit bundles the emergency call and service functions together. These functions are handled via the telephone function. The emergency call system control unit operates in the same manner as a telephone with hands-free system. Only the telematics services TELE AID emergency call, breakdown assistance and MB-Info are supported.
The emergency call system control unit is not used for regular telephone calls.
Following activation by the SOS push button (S93/3) or the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6), and following automatic activation by a crash signal received from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7), the emergency call system control unit sends the vehicle position, the identification as well as other necessary data to the service center (Customer Assistance Center).
