REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Function The hand brake is designed as a lever brake and located next to driver's seat.
The hand brake acts on the rear wheels via two control cables.
When the hand brake lever in the passenger compartment is operated, the brake lever (10) is pulled towards the center of the brake carrier.
Due to this movement the brake shoe (9) abuts the brake drum.
If the brake shoe (9) abuts, the brake shoe (6) is supported on the thrust rod (4) and abuts the brake drum above the fulcrum of the brake shoe (6).
When the parking brake is applied and the ignition is switched on, an indicator lamp (arrow) comes on in the instrument cluster.
The indicator lamp is operated via the indicator switch (12).
