Location 

The media interface control unit is located on the right-hand side of the front passenger footwell.

Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":

• Radio (A2) (with code (EF5) MB Audio 20 CD radio, (NTG 2.5))
• COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) (with code (EU1) COMAND, APS)

Task 

The media interface control unit is responsible for the following tasks:

• Receive signals 
• Transmit signals 

Receive signals 

The signals are received via the following connections:

• Direct lines 
• Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) 

Direct lines 

The following signals are received via a direct line:

• Power supply to circuit 31 and circuit 30 via connectors G+H
• Audio signals and data from electrical media interface connector 1 (X18/67) via the "Mitsumi CAM62" connector
• Electronic wake-up for MOST over G+H connector

MOST 

The following signal is received via MOST:

• Control signal from the audio equipment via MOST 2+0 connector

Transmit signals 

The signals are transmitted via the following connections:

• Direct lines 
• MOST 

Direct lines 

The following signals are transmitted via a direct line:

• General information on power supply to media interface connector 1 and for Universal Serial Bus (USB) via "Mitsumi" connector CAM62
• Control signal to media interface connector 1 via "Mitsumi CAM62" connector

MOST 

The following signal is sent via MOST:

• Audio signals and data to audio equipment via MOST 2+0 connector
