Normally the cellular phone signals of the following vehicle-related services are transmitted and received by the communication module that is integrated in the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) via the telephone and fax antenna:

In the event of a defective telephone and fax antenna, the communication module that is integrated in the emergency call system control unit automatically transmits and receives the relevant signals via the emergency call antenna (A2/52).

Telephone antenna selection function sequence

The emergency call system control unit monitors the radio and cell phone antenna splitter (A28/1) and the telephone and fax antenna via a discrete line.

The emergency call system control unit detects a malfunction in the telephone and fax antenna (defective e.g. because of a rollover) or poor reception and then automatically transmits or receives the cellular phone signals or data for each vehicle-related service via the emergency call antenna.
